“We have prayed. We have united our hearts in devotions for the past forty days. We have fasted. We have read the scriptures in faith. We have gathered in prayer privately and corporately. Now the days of our meetings begin. I urge you to run hard after God with all your heart during these days.” [Ps 63:8] KJV
These are the words that will greet people in the church bulletin as they show up this morning. We do not have an order of worship. We have a heart to go after God. We will gather for Sunday School in two and a half hours and then worship a hour later. Preparations have been made. Now it is time to come to the Lord with expectation.
It is time. It is time to sing without reservation and to worship without inhibition. It is time to preach without compromise and with boldness. It is time to see the saints bow their knees but more importantly to bow their hearts in repentance. It is time to see broken families restored. It is time to see miracles happen. It is time for the miracle of salvation to come to the multitudes. It is time for the kingdom of God to be expanded.
It is time for the river of revival to flow. It is time for cold hearts to be warmed with new affection for Christ. It is time. Seems to me it is past time. Since we have experienced revival, the church has drifted into immorality, doctrinal error, compromise, and lukewarm living. Holiness of living seems nearly extinct. Marriages and families continue to be ripped apart. Satan continues to sow seeds of death and destruction while the church of God sits idly by.
It is time for revival. In exactly three hours and forty minutes we will officially begin. Until then I will pray. I hope not to see another face while I spend the last moments seeking the face of God. He is our only hope. It is time but I am more aware that God is always on time. He is never late. He will accomplish all of His purposes. I rejoice in that truth.
