A New Thing

What new and fresh thing is God doing in you or around you? He is always working. [John 5:17] He is working in fresh ways. Do we even take notice? Are we aware to His workings in our hearts and around us?

Those new things may include a new call on your life, a new revelation of the nature of God, new insight into the scripture, open doors of opportunity, fresh direction for ministry, and the list could go on. All of this makes life exciting. Believing God is working in new ways and doing new things is adventurous. It is thrilling to watch Him connect the dots.

For instance, a person may have been stagnant in their walk with the Lord for sometime. Everything seems stale. Then God breaks through during a devotion and everything becomes exciting and renewed. Or a person may have languished in confusion for some time and God sheds light on their path giving clear direction and peace. Or a young person hears the clear and unmistakable call of God to go to a certain country as a missionary.

None of us knows on any given day when God will show up and change everything. Just ask Noah, Abraham and Moses. Try David or Peter. Don't forget Paul. God does that. He has a way of taking His people and connecting them with His new purposes. The hinge of history swings on such moments.

I praise the Lord people all over the world are waking up or going to bed having experienced God working in fresh ways in their lives. They have seen truth. They have encountered God. They have heard Him speak through His word. They have seen the evidence of His working in their circumstances.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NASB)
18  "Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past.
19  "Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
