Blank Page

I'm sitting here staring at a blank screen. I've been staring at it for some time. Blank. This could go in a thousand different directions. A blog to comfort the afflicted or to afflict the comfortable. There are problems to be solved, truths to be discovered, promises to claim, challenges to overcome and new thoughts to explore. Right now there is just a blank screen.

It is like waking up to a blank day. While we have plans and appointments none of us really know what will happen today. It is a day never lived before. Surely there will be reasons to laugh today and maybe even occasions to cry. Our faith will be challenged today. We will encounter others that need encouragement. We may also need some encouraging ourselves.

On the blank page of this day there will be opportunities to commune with God. There will be times for private worship as well as corporate worship. There will be time for prayer. Time for Bible reading and meditations.

As much as we may hate it, the blank page of today may prove another day we have to wait. Wait on God to intervene. Wait on God to speak. Wait on God to open doors. Wait on Him to move the mountain. Wait on the prayers to get answered. Wait for God's perfect timing. Wait for the phone to ring with a job offer or the letter to come with rejection of a job offer. Wait for reconciliation of the marriage. Wait for for the doctor's report. Wait in line.

Today is a blank page to work to get better at something. To perfect your craft. To labor at a job you have done so many days before but you still give your best effort. To use critical thinking to solve a problem. To let the creative juices flow in drawing, writing, painting or building.

On the blank page of this day there will be opportunities to express love and to receive love. There will be many chances to tell people how much they mean to you. There will be times to express gratitude to God and to the ones He has put in your life as family and friends.

On the blank page of this day you can either make a difference or squander the day. You can purpose steps toward God or away from Him. You can honor the Lord with your actions and attitude or dishonor Him in the same fashion.

Today is a blank page. What will you do with this day. How will you write out life on this day?
