Do you delight in God's law? Is it valuable to you? Do you treasure your Bible? One of the ways to be happy and blessed is to delight in scripture. What does it mean to delight in it? It means to desire it. It means to consider it precious.
It is sad how few people who attend worship services actually desire to hear scripture in public worship nor desire them in their private lives. While Bible reading and study flounder people certainly have ample time for social media.
Every person I know who walks deep with God also loves scripture and devotes themselves to private reading and devotions. People talk about what is important to them and what they are passionate about. Do you talk about scripture? Does it come up naturally in conversations? If it is important to you time will be carved out in your daily schedule to read it and study it.
Psalm 1:2 (NASB)
2 But his
delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
The word meditate mens to "muse, to ponder, to think deeply." It is not enough to simply read the Bible. The Bible must be swallowed in small chunks and digested. Truth must be internalized. The Bible must be thought about. Deep truths must be wrestled with and grappled with to understand at a deeper level. It changes a person. It changes priorities and passions. It changes families, churches, and communities.
Do you delight in God's law? Do you read it? Do you meditate on it? Do you desire more if it? May that always be the heart beat of all followers of Jesus.
